New England Basketball History Exhibit

The International Scholar-Athlete Hall of Fame at URI, headquarters of the Institute for International Sport, will host a 2007 New England Basketball history exhibit. The exhibit will feature the following:

  • Photographs, both new and old, depicting the great moments and players in New England's basketball history.
  • Memorabilia, such as uniforms, programs, books and newspaper stories.
  • Strokers' Alley, a corner dedicated to the best shooters in New England basketball history.
  • Two Legends, a tribute to Ronnie Perry, Sr. of Holy Cross and Jen Rizzotti of UCONN for their dual achievements as players and coaches.
  • A history of women's basketball in New England, that dates back to the late 1800's.

The opening of the New England Basketball exhibit coincides with the publication of Our Game: A Story of New England Basketball by noted author and columnist Bill Reynolds of The Providence Journal. Our Game is being published by Hall of Fame Press, a new, in-housing publishing arm of the Institute for International Sport. Our Game will be for sale at the exhibit, for $16.95, along with posters that celebrate the New England Basketball Hall of Fame's past induction ceremonies.

To arrange a tour, or find out how you can contribute memorabilia for the New England Basketball exhibit, contact Dr. Malcolm MacKenzie, exhibit coordinator. Dr. MacKenzie may be reached at 401-874-2673 or email: mmackenzie@internationalsport.com.
