As the Institute for International Sport heads toward its 25th anniversary in 2011, a key objective is the reconstitution of the Institute’s Board of Trustees. The present Board of Trustees is chaired by Mr. Russell Hogg, who has served with great distinction in this capacity since 1987, when he was CEO of MasterCard International Inc. Over the course of 2007 and 2008, an Institute Board Reconstitution Task Force Team, headed by Mr. Hogg, Dan Doyle and Institute Director of Development, Erica Wheeler, will engage in an extensive process that will involve Ms. Wheeler meeting with well over 200 individuals to discuss their views of the Institute, as well as individuals they might recommend to the Board and/or their own possible interest in Board membership.

The Institute task force has developed a “profile” of the future Institute Board member. The profile addresses the importance of all future board members having a strong commitment to the Institute’s goal of continued growth. This commitment will include supporting initiatives to enhance the Institute’s financial strength so as to allow the Institute to move forward with its vital work.

The new Board of Trustees will be appointed at some point in 2008 or 2009, at which time the present Board will assume Emeritus status. The Emeritus Board will remain active with Institute activities. In 2009, the Institute will also appoint a 12-member Trustee Council. The role of the Trustee Council will be to provide advice to the Institute on various IIS projects.

The Institute seeks leaders and doers for the reconstituted Board of Trustees, individuals who have achieved great personal success and who share our vision for the future. Our vision for the future is extraordinary. In order to assure that we successfully fulfill our vision, and attain our lofty goals, we need a very strong Board of Trustees.”
