The Institute for International Sport is pleased to accord special recognition to one of the finest sports education organizations in America, the Rhode Island Interscholastic League. With equal measures of creativity and execution, the Rhode Island Interscholastic League has crafted a sportsmanship initiative that is worthy of replication on a national scale. The RIIL sportsmanship program includes a very well written sportsmanship manual, sportsmanship guidelines for fans and spectators, and an acclaimed bi-annual sportsmanship and leadership conference.

“Tom Mezzanotte and his staff at the Rhode Island Interscholastic League have set an admirable standard of sportsmanship- one that is very much appreciated by all of us at the Institute for International Sport. The Rhode Island Interscholastic League is one of the most important and active supporters of National Sportsmanship Day. On June 11, it will be our privilege at the Institute to present Mr. Mezzanotte and the Rhode Island Interscholastic League with the Institute’s ‘Power of Good Award’ in a special ceremony in Providence, RI. Mr. Mezzanotte and the Rhode Island Interscholastic League will be the 18th recipient of this award in our 22 years of work,” said Dan Doyle.
