Ice Skating

My name is Isabel Tabs and my sport is figure skating. I skate 3 days a week and compete in competitions. Ice skating is a single sport, but I can still show sportsmanship. I can do it in several ways during a competition and while I practice.

When I am competing against my friends I don’t say “I am going to do better then you.” Instead I say “excellent job” or “I wish I could skate like you.” Another way is to say “good luck” as soon as they get on the ice or I will give them a high five.

Last year I was in a competition and competed against a really close friend. I got 2nd place and she got 1st place. I congratulated her. We hugged and celebrated together. My good friend and I still practice together.

Another way I show sportsmanship is when I am training with my coach. I try not to whine if I don’t get my jumps or spins right. When I get frustrated, I take break and start again. When I have a bad attitude with my coach I always apologize after.

There are a lot of ways to show sportsmanship, but these were the ones I wanted to share with you today!
