NAME: Lexie Glenn Sportsmanship I do not think fighting in sports is the right thing to do because you should win on your own talent, skill and confidence. My mom says you will lose at things many times in life, whether it’s in sports or your personal life. Even at your job. Even if you are not in sports, you end up competing in your life. Even if you win you should be graceful. To rub in winning in other peoples faces could also be away of bullying. You should always make sure you are a good winner as much as you are a good loser. An example of bullying is my cousin whose name is Say Say. She went out for a cheerleading spot, as a captain on the team that was very hard to get on. One of the girls on the team has scene her cheer before. It was her best friend, so she knew how good Say Say really was. Say say’s best friend also wanted the spot on the team very badly. They were very close and she knew all of say say’s secrets. She told Say Say that if she did not throw the tryouts for the captain spot she would tell her mother and all her friends every single secret she ever told her. Say say did not want this to happen at all. She had told her things over the many, many years they were friends. She told her lots and lots of her secrets like about boys, about other friends and even stuff about her very own family. She did not want anyone mad at her, so she throw the tryouts for the captain spot on the cheerleading team. Her mom knew she was better than her cousin, who was also her friend, because she knew them so very well, that she knew right away something was up. Say say’s mother asked her about how her cousin could possibly beat her when she had been doing it for so much longer then her and had so much more practice. How could this happen? She broke down and admitted that she was threatened. As she cried her mom told her that even though she was not physically hurt in any way, she had been bullied in doing something she really truly did not want to do. So even if you are never touched many ways, there are many, many ways you can be bullied. I have seen after school sport. One time a girl was bullied over the computer. It was called cyber bullying. She had to change schools she’d been in since the first grade because her friends were jealous over a boy. Her life was ruined. She even wound up quitting school. Her mom home schooled her for the last two years she was supposed to be in school. She never went to her own senior prom or any sleepovers. Her mom and add wound up selling the house she lived in since she was born just to get away from these mean girls. A couple years later, both her and her mom gave a speech about cyber bullies at the same school she had to leave at. One of the girls that had bullied her came up to her after to tell her she had no idea how bad it was and said she was very sorry for it all. There are many ways to bully someone, in sports, in school or at your job or life. It is never okay to bully. You should get to where you want to be on your own smarts, your own talent and skill. |
