Sportsmanship

I am in 6th grade and I am writing about fighting in sports. Yes, I have experienced fighting and witnessed it being done to and from one of my teammates. And it is a shame that fighting has to occur. Most people are competitive and want to win but that’s no excuse for being verbally or physically mean to a teammate or opponent. I believe when these things happen that whoever is involved should be removed from the game.

Some examples of fighting in sports are players or coaches yelling and being mean to the refs or other players. Also people get so mad they start pushing and fouling each other.

Many sports, especially contact sports get very intense. This causes tempers to flare with players, coaches, and the fans.

I believe good sportsmanship starts at home with our parents. Having said that, we all could get caught up in the actions of professional athletes. They get paid a lot of money to entertain us and they should be held accountable for their actions of bad sportsmanship.

We learn by example and if kids are going to be good sports then we need good role models. I believe more kids would play more sports if they didn’t have the fear of being picked on or fought with.
