USA TODAY Essay Contest

THE 14th ANNUAL USA TODAY National Sportsmanship Day Essay Contest

The Institute for International Sport and USA TODAY are pleased to announce the 14th annual National Sportsmanship Day Essay contest.

Students from elementary school through college level are invited to write essays of 500 words or less which address any aspect of ethics and sportsmanship in society. The essays may also be a personal reflection on examples of exemplary or poor sportsmanship, which the students have seen or experienced.

The essays will be judged by the age group. The categories for submission are: Elementary School, grades 1 through 5; Middle School, grades 6 through 8; High School, grades 9 through 12 and College/University.

USA TODAY will publish a winning essay from each student group as part of National Sportsmanship Day. The DEADLINE for entries to be received is February 27, 2007. Essays can be sent, faxed or emailed to the addresses below:
