Sports Ethics Fellows

Each year the IIS selects a diverse group of individuals from various academic and athletic fields to serve as Sports Ethics Fellows. These outstanding individuals write and conduct research on the contemporary issues of ethics and sportsmanship in today's society and assist with the expansion and promotion of National Sportsmanship Day.

The 2002 Sports Ethics Fellows are:
  • Doris Burke - ESPN basketball analyst.
  • Dan Bylsma - Member of the NHL's Anaheim Mighty Ducks.
  • Sara DeCosta - Member of TEAM USA Women's Hockey Team.
  • Brooke deLench - Founder of MomsTeam.com, a Web site dedicated to creating a safer, saner, less stressful and more inclusive youth sports experience.
  • Bob Duffy - Boston Globe columnist.
  • Herman Edwards - Head coach of the New York Jets.
  • Jeff Gordon - #24 is a four-time Winston Cup Champion with over 50 career victories
  • Suzanne Helfant - Head women's basketball coach at Kenyon College
  • Alice Kinlichee - Homeschool coordinator for Shiperock Consolidation Schools and Wings of America volunteer x-country coach.
  • Phil Ness - Head men's basketball coach at Allegheny College
  • David Robinson - Member of the San Antonio Spurs and named as one of the NBA's 50 greatest players of all time.
  • Tony Sellitto - Head men's basketball coach and director of athletics at Hawaii Pacific University.
  • Ted Staniecki - Director of the CYO West Bronx Recreation Center.
  • Dara Torres - Dara Torres holds the distinction of becoming the first American to swim in four Olympic Games.
  • Bob Turley - Former Major League baseball player with the New York Yankees.
