The Institute for International Sport is honored to welcome the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) at Stanford University as an official partner in the National Sportsmanship Day program. The Positive Coaching Alliance is one of the finest sports education initiatives in the world. The organization’s key role in the 2008 National Sportsmanship Day program will include the following:

• The Positive Coaching Alliance will oversee the selection of the 2008 National Sportsmanship Day Sports Ethics Fellows. The Sports Ethics Fellows, a group of distinguished sports educators who foster good sportsmanship, will be announced just prior to NSD 2008 through a joint press release issued by the PCA and the Institute for International Sport.



• The Positive Coaching Alliance will also promote the celebration of the day among its large membership of coaches, parents and student-athletes.

The Institute for International Sport recently named the 100 Most Influential Sports Educators in America. PCA Founder and Executive Director, Jim Thompson, was among this distinguished group. The announcement included the following the statement about Mr. Thompson: “As fine an example of successful social entrepreneurship in the field of sport as has ever been seen. Mr. Thompson started with a wonderful idea. With an admirable combination of perseverance, planning and execution, he has turned that idea into one of the most effective sports education initiatives in history- The Positive Coaching Alliance.”
