The 2000 Ireland Scholar-Athlete Games at the University of Ulster in Jordanstown welcomed over 600 scholar-athletes from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, as well as delegations from the United States, England and Sri Lanka. The major focal point of the 2000 Ireland Scholar-Athlete Games was the celebration of the Peace Accord in Northern Ireland. A common theme of speakers at the Games was to credit the Institute’s work in Northern Ireland, including its Scholar-Athlete Games and Belfast United Programs, in helping foster the peace.
