The 2002 European Scholar-Athlete Games was held at the University of Limerick. Over 600 scholar-athletes and scholar-artists representing the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Spain, Italy, England, as well as Sri Lanka, Canada and the United States were present for an 8-day program which focused on the issues of the environment and world peace.
