A HISTORIC LINK TO THE PAST!

In February 1993, Senators Claiborne Pell and John Chafee of Rhode Island hosted a grand reception in the Senate Foreign Relations Room on Capitol Hill. At the time, Senator Pell was Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Those attending the reception included Senator Bill Bradley, who chaired the inaugural 1993 World Scholar-Athlete Games. Senator Bradley delivered a wonderful speech, focusing on the vast potential of the World Scholar-Athlete Games. Present at the reception were more than 150 foreign ambassadors.

The February 1993 reception was a major step in the success of the World Scholar-Athlete Games. As a result of the reception, 108 many countries sent delegations to the inaugural 1993 Games!
