Pathways to Peace

The World Youth Peace Summit’s goals reach beyond simply creating an atmosphere of goodwill and good intentions.  Participants will be tasked with bringing to the Summit a “Pathways to Peace” proposal.  Some Pathways to Peace initiatives may focus on such large-scale issues as poverty, nuclear proliferation and the environment.  Other initiatives may be community-based, social entrepreneurship programs that foster peace, focus on conflict resolution, promote civil rights, and develop mentoring and youth programs.  Summit participants – of all ages – will create a grassroots global network of peace advocates and foster a more peaceful world.

While at the World Scholar-Athlete Games/World Youth Peace Summit, each proposal will be further developed with other participants and staff.  Specific, concrete projects will be designed to create a compelling peace initiative in their communities, one that will take root, flourish, and ideally, interconnect with other globally-minded peace initiatives around the world.

On October 1, 2010, this website will contain more details on how you can develop a Pathways to Peace project.  Information will include an overview of the Graduate School on-line courses to be offered at UConn in spring and fall semesters, 2011, as well as the special Pathways to Peace optional on-line program that will be offered to all World Scholar-Athlete Games participants.
